Imnaha Guard Station

We stayed at Imnaha Guard Station last night.  Very cute little cabin, built by the CCC under FDR'S new deal-just like Podunk near Bryce.  But, this one had RUNNING WATER! And a SHOWER AND TOILET INSIDE! We were so excited and happy to learn this.  Actual warm water and a flush toilet that you don't have to walk to was beautiful.   It's the little things that you appreciate when your camping for a long while.  :)
The cabin itself was cozy and nice nestled in a large forest service area WAY back in the woods.  It took us a while to find it and Google maps took us the wrong way.  An adventure on logging roads this journey was.
If you ever have the chance to stay in a guard or ranger station,  do it! Really cool way to see a little history in action, have a place to stay that is like staying with a friend, and experience peaceful parts of the country away from all the crowds.  You can reserve them on recreation.gov and they are very reasonable!  Way cheaper than a hotel and not much more than a campsite.
Up bright and early to stop by Crater Lake and then on to Idaho to visit friends Trish and Brad!
