After a day of Pikes Peak and looking around Manitou Springs, we headed off to camp for the night about 50 minutes west of the peak in Pike National Forest. Beautiful campsite nestled down in a canyon with a swift stream beside it. We pulled in, got our camp set up and cooked dinner. Just as we sat to eat, it started to sprinkle. "No big deal! At least it's not hailing!", I said. Guess what happened immediately? It started hailing. We watched the storm from the little overhang of the latrines (very clean, by the way) and laughed. After the storm passed, it cleared up nicely and we got a good night's sleep! Nice campground and I could have stayed an extra day.
