Podunk Guard Station

We were looking for different opportunities back in February when we started planning this trip and Podunk is one of those opportunities!  We stayed the night of June 10 in Podunk Guard Station,  a former US Forest Service guard post.  It was built way back in 1905 then enhanced in the 1930s under one of FDR'S work programs.  Tiny two room cabin, sixteen miles deep down a very well-maintained dirt road.  The cabin is all there is back there and is situated on the banks of the East Sevier River, which is really more of babbling brook.   Very nice stay and a change from camping.  The boys climbed the hill across from the cabin and loved being trailblazers as they made their way to an Aspen grove below a lone hoodoo.  Fun adventure and glad we did it!
